Sun Setting into Fog
Atmospheric landscapes built from mood, weather and light — thirty years chasing a feeling across the canvas.
“My paintings offer a quiet space far away from rush and noise. They are a meditative vision encapsulating the natural environment which I design to invite the viewer into a world of being there, within the color and light of my creation of this beautiful planet.”
I have been studying oil painting for thirty years, taking numerous courses at museum schools to develop my craft. My work is landscape — but I'm after the atmosphere of a place far more than its outline: the weight of weather, the quality of light, the quiet of an hour.
Each canvas is an attempt to hold a mood long enough to look at it. I paint between two coasts — the Outer Cape and Northern California — and the changing light of both keeps finding its way into the work.
